More time but less time!

A confusing title to start the year but I can explain - I've decided to further ease myself into retirement from the day-job by dropping from 3 days a week to 2 days a week (I know, it's a hard life!).

While that offers me more free time, I know, from experience, that I will soon find that I still don't have enough time in the week - the extra day off gives me more flexibility for arranging trips away and I certainly won't be turning that opportunity down.

Having just put the 2025 year planner on the wall, it is already noticeable that there won't be many gaps left - aside from the trips I hope to make, there are art shows, craft fairs and exhibitions that I'm involved in plus there are an increasing number of jobs on the 'To Do List' that my wife would like completed.

The year starts with an exhibition at Bucks Museum in Aylesbury - two of my images have been chosen as part of a 'Celebrating Buckinghamshire' event and willl be on show from 18th January to 4th May 2025.

We then roll into the Art/Craft shows - pretty much one a month from February through to the end of June, Surprisingly for me, I have been very organised and already have things arranged for the first three shows!

What's instore for 2025 as far as trips go - well, apart from the usual visits to the Lake District and Peak District, there are plans to go to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors (with a trip out to sea to photograph the Gannets feeding) plus, in September, there is a big trip to Skye and the Isle of Harris and Lewis.

A three week adventure is planned that will include an overnight stop in Glencoe on the way up to Skye, a couple of days on Skye before venturing over to Harris and Lewis for a week, and then work our way back down through Scotland. This trip has been on the 'bucket' list for a number of years and I'm excited to get to experience it.

In addition, there will be various short excursions (one or two night) where I will concentrate on the wildlife photography - Short Eared owls, Barn owls, Red fox, Kingfishers are all on the list of species I hope to capture this year.

That seems a pretty full on year, to be honest, and I can't wait for it for it to get started - here's hoping you all have as much to look forward to and I wish you all a very Happy New Year.

A bit of a cliche but I like the pic - 'The dawn of a new year'
